Author of Meet the Tiger draws and signs a self-caricature in
black ink.
Self-Caricature signed: "LC: 81", 5½x3½ card. Charteris'
(1907-1993) first "Saint" novel, Meet the Tiger (also published as
Crooked Gold and The Saint Meets the Tiger), appeared in 1928, a
year after the Singapore-born writer legally changed his name from Leslie
Charles Boyer Yin. Not only was his Simon Templar character the hero of
Charteris' novels, novelettes and books of short stories, Templar also appeared
in detective magazines (including "The Saint Mystery Magazine"), on radio
(voiced by Vincent Price) and television, in films (many scripted by
Charteris) and in comic strips. The author died in 1993. Scalloped edges. Fine
condition.
