LETA BONYNGE
The actress thanks John Willis, Editor of Theatre World, for their recent meeting
Autograph letter signed: "Leta", in blue ink, 4¼x6. Included is the original mailing envelope. In full: "Dear Jack, Russelll and I thank you for the treat you gave us. We enjoyed the occasion very much. You showed such charm + pride and, as usual, were a gracious host. It was fun to mingle with the mighty + to greet old friends. Cordially". Leta Bonynge (1917-2010) has appeared in both stage and television, starting with a role in Strange Bedfellows (1948) on Broadway. She appeared in several more plays after, and then transitioned to television, having roles in Lux Video Theatre (1952), Jamie (1953), and Naked City (1960). John A. Willis (1916-2010), active in Theatre World from the beginning, became its chief editor in 1965, holding that position until 2008. Willis is regarded as one of the foremost theatre and film historians of the 20th century. While producing (and presenting) the annual Theatre World Awards, Willis also served on the nominating committee for the Tony Awards. Theatre World, which received its own Tony for Excellence in Theatre in 2001, continues under chief editor Ben Hodges. Normal mailing fold. Stray ink marks on verso. Slightly soiled. Fine condition.
