Captioned at lower margin. Date stamped on verso: "Sep 25 50". In 1980, the
year he signed this photograph, Ayres appeared in the made-for-TV movie,
Reunion. Lew Ayres (1908-1996) starred opposite Greta Garbo in one of
the last silent films, The Kiss (1929). A leading man through the 1940s,
he earned an Oscar nomination for Best Actor in Johnny Belinda
(1948). Ayers remained active in movie and TV character roles through the
1980s. Lightly creased at blank margins and corners, tack holes at lower margin.
Lightly surface creased. Notes in black crayon (unknown hand) on verso (no show
through). Overall, fine condition.
