Inscribed signature: "To Sal/Lew Lehr", 5¾x3¾. Popular for his
contributions to Fox Movietone News, Lew Lehr (1895-1950) was a
comedian, writer, and film editor. Lehr began performing in vaudeville
and musical theatre, entering the film business in the 1930's when he began
making film shorts. Though many of his shorts have been lost, Lehr was
credited for the creation of 300 newsreel inserts and short films. He also
worked heavily in radio, helping to cement his place in comedic history. The
comic is often quoted and remembered by his most famous catch phrase,
"Monkeys is the cwaziet peoples". Heavily toned. Ink notes
(unknown hand). Binding holes on left margin. Light surface creases. Otherwise,
