Document signed: "Lewis R. Foster", 1 page, 8½x11. Confidential Directors Guild of America Estimate of Earnings for 1966. Foster fills out the form with same pen, hand printing as well as signing name, and reports earnings of $2,462 for 1965, circling that these came from TV re-runs. He has projected identical earnings for 1966. (Membership dues of the Guild are assessed as 1% of earnings as a director.) Lewis R. Foster (1898-1974) was a film and television screenwriter, songwriter and director. He won an Oscar in 1940 for Best Writing, Original Story (Mr. Smith Goes to Washington) and was nominated for another four years later (Best Writing, Screenwriter, for The More the Merrier. His TV screenplays included 21 episodes of The Adventures of Jim Bowie (1956-1957) and eight of The Wonderful World of Disney (1957-1960). He also composed musical scores for Disney television. He directed Laurel & Hardy's first talking picture, Unaccustomed as We Are (1929). Horizontal fold creases. Ink processing stamp with ink notes (unknown hand) at bottom. Otherwise, fine condition.
