LIBERACE. Photograph signed: "Sincerely/Liberace/'86". Color, 9¾x7¾. Theater promotional photograph for the 1955 film, Sincerely Yours. ©1955, Warner Bros. Pictures. Captioned at lower margin. Liberace starred as famed concert pianist Anthony Warren in this 1955 remake of the 1932 film, The Man Who Played God. The film also starred Joanne Dru and Dorothy Malone. Signed the year before he died. Liberace (1919-1987), born Wladziu Valentine Liberace, had been formally trained in classical music, specializing in the piano. While he was an accomplished musician, Liberace's appeal came from his stage persona. Known as "Mr. Showmanship", he entertained legions of fans with his flamboyant costumes and jewelry, lavish sets (always complete with candelabra) and flashy playing style as much as with his music. Liberace appeared in nightclubs and had his own television show, The Liberace Show, which aired from 1952-1955. Image slightly grainy. Slightly soiled at blank margins, stray ink mark at lower margin. Overall, fine condition. Framed in the Gallery of History style: 16¾x20¾.
