LILLIAN HELLMAN. Signature: "Lillian Hellman", 4x1½. Lillian Hellman (1905-1984) used her talents as a
playwright and screenwriter to expose the evils of society. Her memorable works
include The Children's Hour (1934), The Little Foxes (1939)
and Toys in the Attic (1960). When she came before Senator Joseph
McCarthy and the Un-American Activities Committee in 1962, Hellman coined the
phrase "I can't cut my conscience to fit this year's fashions." Lightly creased,
ink slightly smudged. Fine condition.
