LINA BASQUETTE The highly-skilled dancer writes on this letter size envelope Autograph Envelope Unsigned, 6½x3½. "N.Y. Times/ Clipping -" written in her hand. Lina Basquette (1907-1994), a leading dancer in the Ziegfeld Follies, starred in films of the silent era, including Cecil B. DeMille's The Godless Girl (1929). She was married nine times, beginning with movie mogul Sam Warner, and boasted of affairs with men including boxer Jack Dempsey and mobster Johnny Roselli. Hitler personally invited her to visit him in Berchtesgaden, where she claimed to have fended off his advances. Retired from films after 1942, she became a prize-winning breeder of Great Danes. Lightly toned. Gentle creasing throughout. Otherwise, fine condition.
