hobby. Kind regards, Yours sincerely," British actor, writer and director
Lionel Jeffries (1926-2010) was awarded the Burma Star for his service in
WWII and trained at the RADA upon his return to London. From 1950 into the
1970s, Jeffries built a very successful career in film and on stage playing
comic character roles - most notably as the Marquis of Queensberry in The
Trials of Oscar Wilde (1960) and as Grandpa Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang
Bang (1968). With nearly 100 credits, he turned to writing and directing in
the 1970s with a focus on children's films - The Railway Children (1970),
The Amazing Mr. Blunden (1972) The Water Babies (1978). Jeffries
was not fond of television but did appear later in his career in the series
Inspector Morse. Horizontal fold creases. Staple holes at upper left
corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
