Contract between Commodores Entertainment Corporation fso/Lionel Richie, New
York, New York and Scotti Brothers/SYD Vinnedge Television, Los Angeles,
California, for Richie to appear on the program, An America's Top Ten Christmas. The
performance was to be held at the Franklin Hotel, Hollywood, California, and Richie, who was
classified as a "Principal Performer" was to receive $411.25 in compensation. Also signed by
the producer. In the year Richie signed this contract, the Commodores released In the
Pocket, their last album featuring Richie. Singer/songwriter Lionel Richie (b. 1949)
co-founded the Commodores in 1967. Signing with Motown in 1971, the group became
one of the country's most popular bands by the mid-1970s. Beginning in 1980, Richie
began doing more "outside" projects, releasing his first solo album, Lionel Richie, in 1982.
Richie has sold nearly 100 million albums and has had 22 Top 10 hits, 13 of them between
1981, the year this contract was signed, and 1987. He has won five Grammy Awards, an
Academy Award for Best Song (1986, for the film, White Nights (1985)), a Golden
Globe for Best Original Song in 1986 and was nominated for Academy Awards for Best
Song in 1982 (Endless Love (1981)) and 1986 (The Color Purple (1985)). His hits include "All
Night Long (All Night)", "Truly", "Hello", "Endless Love", "Easy" and "Three Times a Lady".Lightly creased with folds, not at signature. Staple and staple holes at upper left blank corner
