Inscribed photograph signed: "For Marilyn/ - Stay cool!/ Love,/ Liz Smith" in black ink. B/w, 8x10. Liz Smith (b. 1923) is an American gossip columnist, known by her moniker "The Grand Dame of Dish". A journalist and producer, Smith began a self-titled gossip column in 1976 for the New York Daily News, eventually appearing daily on New York's Live at Five program. She became a prominent figure on the Manhattan social scene, and won an Emmy for her work on Live at Five. She signed with Fox Broadcasting Company in 1991, with whom she developed several talk shows and new gossip columns including Newsday and the New York Post. She has written many books including The Mother Book (1978), Natural Blonde (2000), and Dishing: Great Dish - And Dishes - From America's Most Beloved Gossip Columnist (2005). Corners rounded.
