LLOYD C. DOUGLAS
The religious novelist signs this typed letter to a fan
Typed letter signed: "Lloyd C Douglas" in black ink. 7¾x10.
Los Angeles, November 18, 1943. Typed on personal letterhead to Captain Ralph
Ward. In part: "Dear Captain Ward, I was much gratified to have your letter
of late September which arrived here while I was out on an extensive lecture
tour through the East, which accounts for this tardiness in my reply. How good
of you to offer such friendly comments on THE ROBE! You will be interested to
know that I am just now starting in on a novel about Simon Peter. I intend to
call it THE BIG FISHERMAN." Lloyd Cassel Douglas (1877-1951), a
minister, did not publish his first novel until he was past 50, but then
authored several popular, religious-themed novels, including Magnificent
Obsession (1929) and The Robe (1942). Four of his books were made
into feature films. Toned. Lightly creased throughout. Some small smudges on
front. Normal mailing folds. Magazine article affixed. Otherwise, fine
condition.
