On January 23, 1968, the USS Pueblo, a Navy intelligence vessel engaged in a routine surveillance of the North Korean coast, was captured by North Korean patrol boats. The Commanding Officer of the USS Pueblo, Commander Lloyd M. Bucher (1929-2004), and 82 of his crew were held for 11 months. On December 23, 1968, U.S. and North Korean negotiators reached a settlement and Bucher and his crew, but not the Pueblo, were released. Lightly creased. Fine condition.
