LLOYD NOLAN
He signs an agreement to appear free in a public service
announcement.
Documentary Letter signed: "Lloyd Nolan", 1 page, 6x8¾. Beverly
Hills, California, 1969 February 25. On letterhead of Twentieth-Century Fox
"To whom it may concern." Nolan agrees to appear free in a service spot
for the US Public Health Service, to be used in any medium at the discretion of
the Public Health Service, and attests that he has received a waiver from the
Screen Actors Guild to allow this free appearance. Lloyd Nolan
(1902-1985) would probably have been type cast as a villain had he been less
obviously charming. He had his first starring role on Broadway, in One Sunday
Afternoon (1933). He originated the role of Captain Queeg on Broadway, too,
in The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial. Then he spent over fifty years in
movie roles, including starring roles in G-Men (1935), A Tree Grows in
Brooklyn (1945), Peyton Place (1957) and Hannah and Her
Sisters (1986). Beginning with the title role in Martin Kane,
Private Eye (1951), Nolan was also seen often on the small screen. File
holes at upper margin. Fine condition.
