Original art signed: "Lo Linkert" in black ink. B/w, 8½x11.
Pen and ink cartoon. Captioned in pencil: "I've been feeling much better
lately - I'd like a diagnosis of my imagination". A German soldier in World
War II, Lo Linkert (1923-2002) began drawing caricatures in a Canadian
P.O.W. camp, exchanging them for cigarettes. After the war, he drew sports
cartoons for American papers in Frankfurt, Germany, immigrating to Canada in
1956. Linkert eventually produced 24 books, 4 calendars and 1500 greeting
cards while winning 12 international cartoonists' awards. His cartoon
characters included Dimples, the humanized golf ball. Corners rounded. Light
surface creases. Lightly stained. Ink stamp on verso. Otherwise, fine
condition.
