Original art signed: "Lo Linkert" in black ink. B/w, 8½x11.
Pen and ink cartoon. Captioned: "Which one of you was it that's allergic to
clothes?". A German soldier in World War II, Lo Linkert (1923-2002)
began drawing caricatures in a Canadian P.O.W. camp, exchanging them for
cigarettes. After the war, he drew sports cartoons for American papers in
Frankfurt, Germany, immigrating to Canada in 1956. Linkert eventually
produced 24 books, 4 calendars and 1500 greeting cards while winning 12
international cartoonists' awards. His cartoon characters included Dimples,
the humanized golf ball. Corners rounded. Light surface creases. Lightly
stained. Masking tape in bottom and top margin. Toned. Ink stamp on verso.
