LOREN D. ESTLEMAN
Response to a fan, calling the western "our sole unique contribution to world literature."
Typed Letter signed: "Loren D. Estleman", 1 page, 8½x11. Whitmore Lake, Michigan, 1994 May 16. To Tom Weber, Kearns, Utah. In full: "Thanks very much for your kind letter of - good, God, can it have been as far back as March 12? - and the moving story about your father. I lost my own father in February and have been remembering a good deal since, and know something of your emotions in putting this fine recollection on paper. I will treasure it. I'm enclosing a signed copy of GUN MAN for Tristan. [Item not included.] I flatter myself that I write westerns that won't warp an eleven-year-old boy, while hoping that the book may kindle some interest in the western, our sole unique contribution to world literature. Anyway, I hope he enjoys it. Sincerely". Loren D. Estleman (b. 1952) is a prolific author of Western and detective fiction. His Westerns feature Marshal Page Murdock, while his crime stories follow private investigator Amos Walker. His out of series fiction includes Bloody Season, based on the gunfight at the OK corral. Estleman has won four Shamus awards for Best Private Eye novel and short story, and received nominations for several more. Normal mailing folds. Slightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
