LORETTA LYNN. Magazine Cover signed: "Your Friend/Loretta Lynn". Color, 8¼x10¾. Cover of the June 18, 1973 issue of "Newsweek". Captioned: "The Country Music Craze, Loretta Lynn"". She is pictured on the cover. Loretta Lynn, born in the coalfields of Kentucky, married when she was 13 and had four children by the time she was 18. At 25, having taught herself guitar, she wrote, recorded and promoted her first hit, "Honky Tonk Girl". She joined the Grand Ole Opry cast two years later. Voted the Country Music Association's top female vocalist three times and Entertainer of the Year in 1972, her autobiography, Coal Miner's Daughter, was made into an Academy Award-winning film in 1980. Lynn was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1988. Lightly creased. Slightly irregular left edge where cover was removed from magazine. Adequate contrast.
