Lori Singer (b. 1957) is an American actress and cellist best known for her role as Ariel Moor in the 1980s hit Footloose (1984), and as Julie Miller in the television series Fame (1981-1983). Born into a musical family, Singer studied the cello at Juilliard as a student of the famed Leonard Rose and has performed on stages such as the Royal Albert Hall and Carnegie Hall. She displays her talents in Fame, as well as in Short Cuts () and Sarabande (1997). She went on to appear in films such as The Falcon and the Snowman (1985), The Man with One Red Shoe (1985) and Trouble in Mind (1985). Singer most recently served as Executive Producer for the documentary Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God (2013) which was nominated for five Prime Time Emmys, winning three.
