LOU BOUDREAUThe MLB Hall of Famer penned his signature on this baseball Baseball signed: "Lou Boudreau". Official Rawlings American League baseball, Bobby Brown, President. Lou Boudreau (b. 1917-2001)combined defensive prowess, solid hitting, and managerial acumen to attain Hall of Fame recognition (1970).He took over managerial duties with the Indians in 1942 at the age of 24; he made his playing debut with the team four seasons earlier. He took the field for the Indians (1938-1950) and Boston Red Sox (1951-1952), and managed a few different teams until his retirement in 1960. In 1948, the eventual league MVP hit .355 with 106 RBI and capped the season with four hits in the Tribe's pennant-winning play-off victory in Boston, leading them to an eventual World Series championship. A bold innovator, Boudreau oversaw the transformation of Bob Lemon from an infielder to a pitcher and created the "Williams Shift" and other tactics. Boudreau was an All-Star selection eight times. The Indians retired his jersey number (#5) in 1970, the same year he was inducted into the Hall of Fame. Lightly soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
