LOU BROCK. Commemorative Cover signed: "Lou Brock", 6½x3¾. Commemorative Cover honoring "Lou Brock/Cooperstown", 22-cent American flag stamp affixed, postmarked Cooperstown, New York, July 28, 1985. Color silk cachet features a photograph of the ball player. Captioned at lower right margin: "The greatest base-stealer of all time, Lou Brock was inducted into Baseball's hall of fame in his first year of eligibility. A .293 career hitter, he collected 3,203 hits, stole a record 938 bases, holds the N. L. stolen base record of 118, and starred in the 1964, '67, and '678 world series for the St. Louis Cardinals." Brock was baseball's all-time leader in stolen bases with 938. He set a major league record by stealing over 50 bases 12 times and a N.L. record with 118 steals in 1974. Brock led the N.L. in stolen bases 8 times. He collected 3,023 hits during his 19-year career and holds the World Series record with a .391 batting average in 21 post-season games. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1985. Slightly worn at corners. Fine condition.
