Illustration signed: "Lou Dials". Color, 8x10, by Gerry
Dvorak. An outstanding outfielder and first baseman, Lou Dials began his
career in 1925 with one of the Negro Leagues' most powerful teams, the Chicago
American Giants. Over his long career in the Negro Leagues (1925-1946),
Dials would also play for the Memphis Red Sox, Detroit Stars, Hilldale, Columbus
Blue Birds, Akron, New York Black Yankees, Cleveland Giants and Homestead Grays.
In 1931, unofficial statistics showed Dials, who was then playing for the
Detroit Stars, winning the Negro National League batting title with a .382
average. Fine condition.
