LOU HOLTZ
The college football coaching legend signs this typed letter to a fan explaining that his photograph wasn't worth much at the time but will be someday
Typed letter signed: "Lou Holtz" in blue ink. 8½x11. April 22, 1997. Typed on personal letterhead to "Dear Irene", in full: "Thank you for your letter, and I am flattered that you would want my autograph. Today, this picture [not included] is not worth much, but in a few years to come, it will (be) worth twice as much. I am sorry to be so late in answering your letter, but it just reached my desk. Hope you enjoy it, and 'Always Expect A Miracle'. Sincerely". Lou Holtz (b. 1937) is the only man to have coached 6 colleges (between 1969 and 2004) into bowl games: William and Mary, North Carolina State, Arkansas, Minnesota, Notre Dame and South Carolina. His 1988 Notre Dame team went 12-0, and was the consensus national champion, and made one of its 9 bowl appearances during his 11-year tenure. Holtz, enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008, is a football analyst for ESPN. Lightly creased near top left edge. Ink mark on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
