Inscribed photograph signed "To April/& friend/Thank You/for
being fans/[illegible]/Lou Jacobi". B/w, 8x10 overall, 7¼x9¼ image,
one surface. Canadian character actor Jacobi (1913-2009) was known for
playing frumpy, often hapless men. He had over 60 TV shows and movies to his
credit since 1953, as well as 10 Broadway appearances. One of his most famous
roles was as Mr. Van Daan in the Broadway production of The Diary of Anne
Frank, which ran for 717 performances between 1955 and 1957, a role he
reprised in the 1959 movie adaptation. He also appeared as a transvestite
husband in Woody Allen's Everything You Wanted to Know about Sex (But Were
Afraid to Ask) (1972), as a man who was sucked into his TV in Amazon
Women on the Moon (1987) and as Kurt Gödel in I. Q. (1994), his last
movie. Lightly creased and bowed. Signature has poor adhesion but is legible.
Light dents at top edge. Light scratches on image (not visible head-on).
