Louis Evans Atkinson (1841-1910) was a Union Army surgeon during the
Civil War. Disabled in the war and no longer able to practice medicine, he
turned to law, passing the Pennsylvania bar exam in 1870. Atkinson, a
Republican, served five terms in the US Congress (1883-1893), and later
served as a state district court judge. Toned. Left edge worn. Pencil note (in
unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
