Photograph signed: "Louis Kentner". B/w, 3½x5½. Louis
Kentner (1905-1987), born Lajos Kentner and going by Ludwig until 1931, was
a Hungarian-born British pianist noted for his interpretations of Chopin and
especially Liszt. (He was longtime President of the Liszt Society.) His
extensive radio broadcasts of works of Beethoven, Schumann, Bach and of course
Liszt are also well known. Kentner, who moved permanently to England in 1935,
also composed orchestral and chamber music, piano solos and songs. He can be
heard on the soundtrack of the film Dangerous Moonlight (1941), called
Suicide Squadron in the US. Fine condition.
