Document signed "Louis G. Mercier" in blue ink. Blue ink and lead pencil notations in unknown hand. 2 pages, 6¼x8¾, 1 sheet, front and verso. With 6½x3¼ initiation fee receipt carbon copy with perforated left edge stapled at top edge. March 1, 1957. Membership form for the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. In 1957, Mercier appeared in Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? And An Affair to Remember and episodes of The Millionaire and The Adventures of Jim Bowie. Algerian-born Mercier (1901-1993) appeared in over 150 movies between 1926 and 1977. He rarely had named parts until he started appearing on TV in 1957, mostly in one-shot roles but with some repeat appearances on Combat! (1962-1966). His credits include a smuggler in Rick's Café Américain in Casablanca (1942) and frequent roles as detectives and judges in 20th Century-Fox's B movies during the 1930s and 1940s. Lightly toned and creased. Signature touches notations. Show-through (does not touch signature). Form has paper clip impressions at top edge and folded twice and unfolded. Receipt has carbon copy marks and was folded once and unfolded. Otherwise in fine condition.
