LOUISE CHANDLER MOULTON
The literary critic/American poet sends a letter expressing she has
sent her stories to the editor of Harper's Magazine
Autograph Letter signed: "L. C. Moulton", 5x3 postal card. No
place , no date ("Friday"). Illegible postmark, imprinted 1-cent stamp.
Addressed in her hand to "Rev. Walter Alexander/Pomfret
[Connecticut]". In full: "The editor of Harper's Mag. writes me
to send the story for his consideration, which I have today done. Yours truly".
Louise Chandler Moulton (1835-1908) published her first collection of
poems, This, That & the Other, in 1854. The following year
she wed Boston publisher William Moulton. A literary critic for the New
York Tribune and Boston Herald, she also wrote collections of short stories,
beginning with Bed-time Stories (1873), and a travelogue, Lazy Tours
in Spain (1896). Slightly soiled in blank lower margin. Otherwise, fine
condition.
