all, in five tournaments: The U. S. Women's and Western Opens, the LPGA and Titleholders
Championships and the U. S. Amateur. After winning many women's amateur golf tourneys,
Mae Louise Suggs (1923-2015), turned pro in 1948 and went on to win 55 events,
including 11 majors. She was a co-founder of the LPGA in 1950, serving as its President
from 1955 to 1957. Suggs was an inaugural inductee to the LPGA Hall of Fame in 1967.
The LPGA rookie of the year award is named for her. Bob Hope reportedly gave her the
nickname "Miss Sluggs" after seeing her long drives. Lightly toned and creased. Otherwise, fine
