THE LOVIN' SPOONFUL: JOHN SEBASTIAN, JOE BUTLER and STEVE BOONE
The Best of the Lovin' Spoonful record album, signed on the cover by all three.
Record Album Cover signed: "John/Sebastian", "Steve/Boone", "Joe Butler/[He has drawn a spoon holding a heart, a "lovin spoonful"], 12¼x12¼. Their 1967 release from Kama Sutra Records, The Best of the Lovin' Spoonful, 33 rpm record and sleeve included. Also included in an unsigned photo (color, 7½x9½) of Zal Yanovsky, the fourth original member of the group, who departed in mid-1967. The upbeat music and lyrics of The Lovin' Spoonful topped the pop music charts in the mid-1960s. (Their three biggest hits, "Summer in the City", "(What a Day for a) Daydream", and "Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind" are all included on this album, along with 9 other hits familiar to their fans.) STEVE BOONE played bass, JOE BUTLER drums for the group. When JOHN SEBASTIAN, the principal songwriter, left the group in mid-1967 to pursue a solo career, the band's glory days were over, although they placed some more tunes in the top 100 and issued a new record in 1999. The Lovin' Spoonful entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. Lightly soiled on cover. Some wear to upper edge. Promotional label affixed to front cover, overwritten by first letter of Butler's signature. Overall, fine condition.
