THE LOVIN' SPOONFUL: JOHN SEBASTIAN, JOE BUTLER, STEVE BOONE and JERRY YESTER
Their record album cover Hums of the Lovin' Spoonful, signed on the cover by all four
Record Album Cover signed: "John Sebastian", "Steve/Boone", "Joe Butler", "Jerry Yester", 12¼x12¼. Their 1966 release from Kama Sutra Records, Hums of the Lovin' Spoonful, record not included. The upbeat music and lyrics of The Lovin' Spoonful topped the pop music charts in the mid-1960s. STEVE BOONE played bass, JOE BUTLER drums for the group. Guitarist JERRY YESTER joined the band in 1967, the year after this release. The band's biggest hits included two chart-toppers ("Daydream" and "Summer in the City" and two more in the top ten ("Do You Believe in Magic," "You Didn't Have to Be So Nice." When JOHN SEBASTIAN, the principal songwriter, left the group later the next year to pursue a solo career, the band's glory days were over, although they placed some more tunes in the top 100 and issued a new record in 1999. The Lovin' Spoonful entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. Boone, Yester and Butler (the latter now lead vocalist) continue to tour, with two other members added to the group. Worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
