Weicker, Jr. (1931-2023) was an American politician who served as a U.S. Representative
and Senator from Connecticut, as well as the state's 85th Governor (1991-1995). He is
best remembered for his unsuccessful run for the Republican nomination for President in
1980, as well as for his involvement as one of the seven members of the Senate
Watergate Committee whose investigations led to the resignation of President Nixon.
Although a member of the Republican Party while in Congress, he later left and became one
of the few independents to be elected as a state governor of the U.S. Interestingly, Weicker also
served as a member of the Board of Directors of the World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc.
