Signature: "Lowell Thomas, Jr.", 5x3 card. Pencil note on verso
(unknown hand, no show through). Lowell Thomas, Jr. (b. 1923) followed and
then assisted his father, famed writer and broadcaster Lowell Thomas, Sr.
(1892-1981) on many of his travels. In 1949 Thomas father and son were the last
Westerners to enter and film Lhasa, Tibet before the arrival of the Chinese
army. (Lowell Jr.'s continuing interest in Tibet was recognized when he received
the Light of Truth award from the Dalai Lama in 2005. Thomas, Jr., who
has written on environmental issues for National Geographic and made documentary
films of his own, was Lieutenant Governor of Alaska (1974-1978). Fine
condition.
