Inscribed Photograph Signed: "11/8/91 To Donald,/Thanks for the/interest in our/space program./All the best to you,/Andrew Allen/STS-46/PLT". Color, 8x10. Andrew Allen (b. 1955) is a former American astronaut, as well as a former member of the United States Marine Corps. After graduating flight school, Allen spent many years flying high-speed jets with the Marine Corps. In 1987, after an extensive career as a test-pilot (logging more than six-thousand hours in flight), Allen was selected to join the astronaut program. A year later, Allen officially became an astronaut, filling such roles as Technical Assistant to the Flight Crew Operations Director, Special Assistant to the Director of the Johnson Space Center, Director of Space Station Requirements, and many more. Throughout three missions, Allen spent over 900 hours in space aboard such shuttles as Atlantis and Columbia. He is credited as having been a member of the mission STS-46 (which deployed the European Retrievable Carrier), mission STS-62 (during which science and technology experiments were performed), and mission STS-75 (which re-launched the Tethered Satellite System).Fine condition.
