Michael Richard "Rich" Clifford (born in 1952), a 1974 graduate of West Point, was selected as an astronaut in July 1990. He made his first trip into space on STS-53 (Discovery), December 2-9, 1992. Clifford next flew on the STS-59 (Endeavor), April 9-20, 1994, before making his final voyage on STS-76 (Atlantis), March 22-31, 1996. During that mission, the third U.S. docking with the Russian space station, Mir, Clifford made a six-hour space walk, the first by an astronaut docked to an orbiting space station. Clifford, who had worked in a variety of technical assignments for NASA since being assigned to Johnson Space Center in July 1987, left the space agency in January 1997 to become Space Station Flight Operations Manager for Boeing Defense and Space Group. Minor surface creases (not evident head on). Pinhead-size defect at lower right margin. Fine condition.
