LT. COL. WINFIELD K. DENTON The United States Congressman and military veteran signed this piece of paper in black ink Signature: "Winfield K. Denton/Indiana" in black ink on a 3½x2 business card-sized paper. Lt. Col. Winfield K. Denton (1896-1971) spent a large portion of his life serving his country, first by enlisting in the military during WWI and later as an elected U.S. Congressman. After beginning his political career with the Indiana state legislature from 1937-1942, he rejoined the United States Army to serve in WWII. He was discharged as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1945. From 1949-1966, Denton served in the United States Congress for eight terms, only failing to be reelected to the Eighty-third legislative body from 1953-1955. Name in unknown hand on verso. Toned.
