Photograph signed: "F L Parks". B/w, 8x10. US Army Signal Corps photograph. Floyd L. Parks (1896-1959) joined the US Army as a private in 1918, earning a commission in 1920. A combat commander in the European Theater during World War II, he presented the US Flag of Liberation to President Truman at the Potsdam Conference (1945). For five years (1948-1953) he served as Chief Information Officer of the US Army, earning the honorific, "the father of modern Army public affairs." One of his duties in this command was to suggest changes in the speeches of the Army Chief of Staff, Dwight D. Eisenhower. After retiring from the service in 1956 as a Lieutenant General Parks worked for the National Rifle Association. Light corner creases. Minor surface scratches. Otherwise, fine condition.
