JERRY JOHNSON
Signed photo, standing next to his "Jackson County Michigan Fighter"
Photograph signed: "Jerry Johnson". B/w 10x8. Gerald W. "Jerry"
Johnson, from Owenton, Kentucky, earned ace status by downing 17 enemy
aircraft while flying with the 61st Fighter Group, 8th Air Force, in the
European Theater of World War II. His P-47, also named "In the Mood,"
bore the name of the US county which had funded its construction with war bonds.
He should not be confused with the other US ace Gerald R. Johnson, who fought in
the Pacific. Johnson was a Prisoner of War from March 1944 until
Germany's surrender. Fine condition.
