campaign and President Andrew Johnson's
Secretary of War (succeeding Edwin M.
Stanton, who resigned after Johnson survived
impeachment) writes to Julius Hunt, New York. In full: "I take
pleasure in complying with the courteous request conveyed in your note of the
11th instant." Of note - it was Schofield who recommended that the U.S.
acquire Pearl Harbor as a naval base! Usual folds, else fine condition.
