The commander in Sherman's Atlanta campaign and President Andrew Johnson's Secretary of War (succeeding Edwin M. Stanton, who resigned after Johnson survived impeachment) writes to Julius Hunt, New York. In full: "I take pleasure in complying with the courteous request conveyed in your note of the 11th instant." Of note - it was Schofield who recommended that the U.S. acquire Pearl Harbor as a naval base! Usual folds, else fine condition.
