In Full:Thanks so much for your thoughtful message. There is much to do and I am anxious to start. 'ESSAYONS' has a special meaning to me at this time.” The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' motto is “Essayons” which means “Let Us Try” in French. Lt. General John W. Morris (1921-2013) was a military general who served in Vietnam as as commander of the 18th Engineer Brigade from 1969-1970. In 1976, he was named the Chief of Engineers, a position he served in until 1980. Morris received the Engineering News-Record's Construction Man of the Year award in 1977. Horizontal mailing crease.
