As Minister of Agriculture, he signs the appointment of an animal
inspector.
Typed Civil Appointment signed: "MD" in Hebrew as Israeli
Minister of Agriculture, 1 page, 6½x8. [Jerusalem], 1965 March 31.
"Appointment by the powers vested in me according to the laws in force re:
agriculture (live animals), 1952, I hereby appoint Avraham Kalderon as Inspector
according to the above laws and amendments...." Dayan was Minister of
Agriculture from 1959-1965. Dayan had founded the Haganah militia force in
1939. After serving in the British Army during WWII, he fought in Israel's first
war after independence in 1948, losing his left eye. Israeli Chief of Staff
(1953-1958), Dayan is credited with the Israeli Army's success in Gaza and the
Sinai in the 1956 Suez War. As Minister of Defense, he planned and commanded the
Six Day War (1967). General Dayan resigned after a disagreement over the 1973
Yom Kippur War, later serving as Foreign Minister (1977-1979). Creased. Folds.
