Sivan 5732"(June 10, 1972) in Hebrew on verso. Color, 4x5½. Dayan
founded the Haganah militia force in 1939. After serving in the
British Army during World War II, he fought in Israel's first war after
independence in 1948, losing his left eye. Israeli Chief of Staff
(1953-1958), Dayan is credited with the Israeli Army's success in Gaza and
the Sinai in the 1956 Suez War. As Minister of Defense, he planned and
commanded the Six Day War (1967). Slightly soiled. Fine
condition.
