LUCIANO PAVAROTTI
Color publicity photograph of Luciano Pavarotti.
Photograph signed: "caromente/Luciano Pavarotti'88". Color, 8x10. Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti was born at Carpi near Modena, on October 12, 1935. Although he had a beautiful natural voice, at first he studied to be a teacher, and in fact taught for two years. He then decided to become a professional singer and studied with Arrigo Pola and Campogalliani. Pavarotti made his debut in Reggio Emilia in 1961 as Rodolfo in "La Boheme" and his success was immediate. Engagements in leading Italian theatres soon followed. In 1963, he sang in Amsterdam, Vienna and Zurich, and in September of that year went to Covent Garden to sing Rodolfo. In 1964 he sang the role of Idomeneo at Glyndebourne, and in 1965 made his North American debut in Miami with Joan Sutherland in "Lucia Di Lammermoor", following this with a tour of Australia with Sutherland. Pavarotti's fine, lyrical voice with its powerful and extended upper register, and his musical approach to all his roles have placed him in the forefront of contemporary tenors. Pavarotti died on September 6, 2007 at the age of 71. Fine condition.
