LUCILLE BALL
Matte-finish 11x14 image of the comic actress portraying Chaplin's Little Tramp, a skit she performed on The Lucy Show on New Year's Eve, 1962
Photograph inscribed and signed: "Kenny/I love you/Lucy". B/w, 11x14. Nominated for 13 Emmy Awards and the winner of four Emmys for her role as Lucy Ricardo on I Love Lucy (1953, 1956) and Lucy Carmichael in The Lucy Show (1967, 1968), Lucille Ball (1911-1989) was also a television pioneer and astute businesswoman. She and her first husband, Desi Arnaz, the cofounders of Desilu Productions, Inc., which became one of the largest producers of TV shows, pioneered the three-camera technique that is now the standard in filming TV sitcoms and the concept of syndicating TV programs. Before becoming a television superstar, Ball had determinedly worked her way up from minor roles in films of the 1930s to starring roles in the 1940s. Lucy presented this classic skit honoring another comic great, Charlie Chaplin, best known for his "Little Tramp" roles in silent films. The occasion was a New Year's Eve party for her screen daughter Chris (played by Candy Moore) and friends, originally broadcast on December 31, 1962. Pin size holes at corners. Signature light but legible. Otherwise, fine condition.
