LUCILLE "LUCY" BALL, DESI ARNAZ, SR., MARTIN N. LEEDS, and ANDREW G. HICKOX
In these signed 1956 minutes, Desilu's directors vote on opening a bank account
Corporate minutes signed: "Desi Arnaz", "Lucille Ball", "Martin N. Leeds" and signed twice by "Andrew G. Hickox" as Secretary and Vice President, 2 pages, 8½x11. Hollywood, California, 1956 July 2. Minutes of a special meeting of the directors shareholders of Desilu Productions, Inc. General corporate business, including a vote to establish an account at Chemical Corn Exchange Bank of New York. Desilu Productions was one of the most successful entertainment production companies in television history. Ball and Arnaz formed it to produce their comedy series I Love Lucy (1951-1957) after CBS had denied Lucy's request for Desi to play the role of her husband. In 1957, Lucy and Desi sold the rerun rights of the show to CBS Films for $5 million. They used the money for Desilu to purchase the RKO motion picture lot and produced such successful shows as Our Miss Brooks, The Danny Thomas Show, Mission: Impossible and Star Trek. In 1960, upon their divorce, they divided Desilu's assets in half; two years later, Lucy bought out Desi for $3 million. Lightly creased. Staple holes at left corners, file holes at top center. Otherwise, fine condition.
