Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz sign a document concerning merchandising products bearing the likeness of December Bride star Spring Byington.
Typed Document Signed: "Desi Arnaz" as President, "Lucille Ball" as Vice President, "Martin N. Leeds" as Executive Vice President and "Andrew G. Hickox" as Secretary-Treasurer, 2p, 8½x11. Hollywood, California, 1955 August 3. "Minutes of Special Meeting of the Board of Directors of Desilu Inc." In part: "The Chairman advised the meeting that a tentative agreement had been reached on July 29, 1955 between the corporation and Desilu Productions Inc. pursuant to which the corporation would obtain the rights to merchandise products bearing Spring Byington's name and likeness on its customary basis of 45% of the income from license fees. The Chairman explained that Desilu Productions Inc. held these rights under a merchandising agreement with Spring Byington dated December 11, 1953...." Arnaz chaired the meeting. December Bride was originally a radio comedy series starring Spring Byington as a widow who lived with her daughter and son-in-law. The program gained a vast following, and on October 4, 1954, December Bride became a CBS-TV series filmed before a live audience at the Desilu Studios.It ran from 1954-1959 (146 episodes) and was one of the top 12 shows in the Nielsen ratings from 1954-1958. Lightly creased at upper left margins. 2 file holes at upper margins, staple holes at upper left blank corners. Fine condition.
