LUCINE AMARA, born in 1927 in Hartford, Connecticut, was an American opera soprano featured by the New York Metropolitan Opera. She sang in the San Francisco Opera for two years before making her concert debut at San Francisco's War Memorial Opera House in 1946. Amara debuted at the Met in 1950 in Verdi's Don Carlos as the "Voice of Heaven", and continued to perform there for 41 consecutive seasons until 1991. She sang 56 roles in 882 appearances (60 of which were televised). MAX RUDOLF (1902-1995) began conducting opera orchestras in his native Germany in 1923. Moving to Prague and then to Sweden to evade the Nazis, he came to the US in World War II and conducted his first performance at the Met, Der Rosenkavalier, in 1946. Rudolf not only conducted, but performed many administrative duties as assistant manager. He left New York in 1958 to become director of the Cincinnati Symphony, but returned for the 1993-1995 seasons. Bank cancellation holes (not affecting signature).
