LUCKY LADY MOVIE CAST: GENE HACKMAN and LIZA MINNELLI A black and white printed still from the 1975 film signed by its stars Printed Photograph Signed in Ink: "Gene Hackman" and "Liza Minnelli/[happy face]". B/w, 10x8. Movie still from the 1975 film. During the Prohibition era, Walker (Burt Reynolds) and Kibby (Gene Hackman) run a liquor smuggling operation in Mexico; they team up with Claire (Liza Minnelli), a cabaret entertainer who has an "in" with several big-time nightclub owners. Complications ensue when both men fall in love with Claire, and she can't make up her mind between them. Gene Hackman (b. 1930) is a prolific stage and screen actor who earned his screen debut in an episode of Tallahassee 7000 in 1961. After winning Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor for Bonnie and Clyde (1967) and I Never Sang For My Father (1973), Hackman won the Best Actor Award for his role as narcotics agent Popeye Doyle in The French Connection (1971). A Best Supporting Actor Oscar winner for the Western Unforgiven (1993), Hackman earned critical acclaim in such films as Mississippi Burning (1989) and The Royal Tenenbaums (2001). Although it did not win any major film awards, Hoosiers (1986), in which he portrayed a high school basketball coach, is considered one of the best sports films of all time. In total, Hackman has won two Oscars (five nominations), four Golden Globes (nine nominations), and two BAFTAs (five nominations).  Since his last screen role in 2004, Hackman has firmly retired from the industry, instead choosing to write and publish novels. Liza Minnelli (b. 1946), daughter of Judy Garland and director Vincente Minnelli, has developed quite a stage and screen career of her own. She made her screen debut as a young multi-talented singer and actress in the 1960s when she was a teenager. Appearing in bit parts at the beginning of her career, she eventually earned major roles in films like Cabaret (1972), New York, New York (1977), and The Sterile Cuckoo (1969). Two of these films betray where she's at her best: belting out tunes as part of a musical or theatrical show. Starring as the titular character in Flora, The Red Menance in her Broadway 1965 debut, Minnelli earned her first Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical; she would win the same award nine years later for The Act (1977-1978). She has also forayed into television, most notably in the popular television show Arrested Development (2003-2016) as Lucille Austero, the nemesis of Lucille Bluth (played by Jessica Walter) and the love interest of one of Bluth's sons. Minnelli has won three Tony Awards, two Golden Globes, an Emmy Award, and an Oscar. Fine condition.
