LUIS RODRIGUEZ
Signed black and white photograph of the Cuban born International Hall of Fame boxer. Extremely rare!
Photograph signed: "Luis Rodriguez". B/w, 8x10 overall, image 6¼x8¾ (one surface). Cuban boxer Luis Rodriguez (1937-1996) moved to Miami after Fidel Castro came to power (and banned pro boxing). Rodriguez won his first 36 professional fights, before losing in 1960 to Emile Griffith. In 1963, Rodriguez snatched the world welterweight crown from Griffith, but lost it to the same fighter in a rematch three months later. In 1969, Rodriguez fought for the middleweight title, but lost to Ninobenvenuti. His is showing wearing a T-shirt from Dundee's gym; Angelo Dundee, who later trained Cassius Clay/Muhammad Ali, also trained Rodriguez. Rodriguez retired with a record of 107-13-1, with 49 knockouts. He entered the International Boxing Hall of Fame posthumously in 1997. Fine condition.
