LUISA TETRAZZINI, LAURI KENNEDY, JOHN AMADRO and ATTELIO BAGGIORE
The four performers who were all involved in opera worldwide signed this page in ink
Signatures: "Souvenir from/Luisa Tetrazzini/Nottingham 1922.", "Sincerely - Lauri Kennedy", "Best Wishes John Amadro" and "Merry Christmas from/Attelio Baggiore", 8¾x7. Italian opera star Luisa Tetrazzini(1871-1940) made her debut in Florence in 1890, debuted in the U.S. in 1904 and at Covent Garden in 1907. As a coloratura soprano, she demonstrated a highly polished mastery of the art with a sensational command of the most difficult and florid music. She was also witty and good-natured, with a flair for fun that made her splendid in comedic roles. Tetrazzini, who sang notably in Rigoletto and La Traviata, was the inspiration for Chicken Tetrazzini, created by Chef George Auguste Escoffier of The Savoy in London. Attelio Baggiore (ca. 1897-1963) was a tenor opera singer who frequently performed alongside Tetrazzini. Rumors of more than a professional relationship between the two singers escalated their star status, especially with Luisa being 26 years his senior. Australian-born Lauri Kennedy (1896-1985)was theprincipal cellist for a number of prominent orchestras. John Amadro was a flutist who also performed with the orchestra. Worthy of further research. Lightly creased, slightly soiled. Pencil note (unknown hand) near Kennedy's signature. Irregular left edge from removal from bound book. Otherwise, fine condition.
